Former Indian rally racer Arindam Ghosh is now the new President of the Federation of The Motor Sports Club of India. Arindam Ghosh has replaced the former President Akbar Ebrahim to be the new President. The election was carried out during the FMSCI's annual general meeting in Chennai on Wednesday, September 25.
Meeting at Chennai: New FMSCI Chief Arindam Ghosh
Arindam Ghosh came out victorious in a very close contest. Representing Ramakrishna Race Performance Management Pvt Ltd from Kolkata, Ghosh polled more votes than BS Gautam of Karnataka Motor Sports Club, Bengaluru. Ghosh has vast experience as he was a member of FMSCI council at some point in the past.
Firstly, he was a rally driver, who won several important rallies like Himalayan Rally and Karnataka 1000. Later, he began promoting motorsport through his company, Ramakrishna Race Performance Management; the company has sponsored a large number of national championships in rallies, including Indian National Rally Championship and Indian National TSD Rally Championship. It is for the third time that someone from Kolkata has become the President of FMSCI.
Farooq Ahmed: Vice President
For the post of Vice President, Farooq Ahmed from the Motor Sports Club of Chikmagalur was elected unopposed. J Balamurugan from Spitfire Motor Sports Pvt Ltd, Coimbatore, was the other candidate but could not get elected to the FMSCI Council, which paved the way for Ahmed's win.

FMSCI Elections
There were 15 clubs eligible to contest and 17 clubs eligible to vote in the FMSCI election process. All office bearers of FMSCI are elected for a two year term in office with a maximum of three terms. A new chapter awaits the FMSCI with Arindam Ghosh.
