Get ready to wag your tails—or rev your engines—because Honda has revealed a unique pet-friendly special edition of the WR-V. In fact, this car has been renamed Elevate in the Indian market. This special edition is aimed at providing the needs of man's best friend along with human travel buddies.
Who's Behind the Wheel (Or Maybe Just on the Seat of the Driver's Side)?
Honda Dog, the official brand for pet accessories from Honda Access, has transformed this WR-V special edition. The car has been customised for ease of use with pet accessories for Honda Dog.
What Makes This WR-V Such a Dog's Best Friend?
So, what exactly makes this WR-V so dog-friendly? The front passenger seat gets a special carrier, designed to carry two small dogs comfortably, with a grey pet door cover that is easy to use. The rear seats are also decked out with a pet seat circle fit for small and medium-sized dogs, along with leash anchorages for added security. You can even personalise the interior with additional dog-themed stickers for a touch of canine flair.
The Exterior Giveaway for a Doggone Look
The pampering doesn't stop on the inside. The front grille gets a unique black plastic grille, mimicking the sporty AMG Panamericana grille. Chrome accents all around the lights and grille, as well as a special WR-V badge and a "Honda Dog" sticker on the doors, proudly announcing your doggone affection.
A Legacy of Canine Comfort
This isn't the first time that Honda has shown its commitment to pet-friendly vehicles. Back in 2009, they showcased a Honda Element Concept in the US that was equipped with various dog-specific features. Besides, famous Japanese racing driver Keiichi Tsuchiya, also known as the "Drift King," uses Honda Dog accessories in his Honda Odyssey, thereby further solidifying the brand's commitment to canine comfort.

Born in India, Bred in Japan
The WR-V, known as the Elevate in India, is actually manufactured at Honda's Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, for both domestic and export markets. Their commitment to this style that includes both the Indian and Japanese versions is shared, and the same 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine is used. However, only the CVT automatic transmission is available for the Japanese version.
Honda Reported Exporting Over 6,800 Elevate SUVs to Japan in March 2024 as WR-V.
What's Next for the Future of Mobility for Man's Best Friend?
Looking ahead, Honda plans to turn to a future featuring not just humans but also their four-legged companions. They have announced plans to launch an Elevate-based electric vehicle (EV) in India by 2026, codenamed ACE (Asian Compact Electric). This exciting project hints at a future where electric mobility embraces not just environmental consciousness but also the love between humans and their furry friends.
