Mahindra is set to unveil the long-awaited XUV300 facelift in February 2024, with price announcements soon to follow. This eagerly anticipated release will come on the heels of the updated XUV400 EV hitting the market in January. The XUV300 facelift promises a significant styling overhaul, accompanied by enhanced features and technology across the entire lineup. Mahindra aims to strengthen its position in the competitive compact SUV market, directly competing with recently updated models like the Nexon and the refreshed Kia Sonet scheduled for release in January. Additionally, an XUV300 EV is expected to join the lineup by June 2024.
Mahindra XUV300 facelift
To match the revamped Nexon and the impending Sonet facelift, the Mahindra XUV300 facelift will undergo a substantial styling transformation, particularly at the front and rear. Drawing inspiration from Mahindra's BE SUV line-up set to debut in 2025, expect a more angular nose, a redesigned drop-down LED daytime running lamp, and alterations to the bumper and headlamp assembly. The facelift will showcase a new two-part grille with an expanded central air intake, reflecting a refreshed and contemporary design approach. These enhancements aim to position the XUV300 as a formidable contender in the dynamic compact SUV market.
Towards the rear, anticipate a fully revamped tailgate on the Mahindra XUV300 facelift, possibly adorned with a full-width LED light bar. The tailgate's surface will showcase smoother contours, while the tail-lamps take on a sleeker, C-shaped design. Notably, the registration plate will find its place on the bumper rather than the tailgate. Complementing these changes, the facelift will feature a fresh set of alloy wheels, though we anticipate the overall profile to retain its familiar and well-loved form. These enhancements contribute to an updated and stylish rear aesthetic for the XUV300.
1.2 TGDI Engine with a New 6-Speed TC Gearbox
The XUV300 facelift is set to feature an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic (torque converter) paired with the potent 131hp, 1.2-liter turbo-petrol (TGDI) engine. This is the same transmission unit found in the Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Slavia, and Volkswagen Virtus, powering their 1.0-liter TSI turbo-petrol engines. Meanwhile, the other two engine variants will retain their 6-speed manual and automated manual transmission options. The existing engine lineup, which underwent emissions-related upgrades for BS6 Stage II norms, including a 1.5-liter diesel and a 1.2-liter direct injection turbo-petrol (TGDI), will remain unchanged.
New Features
In addition to design refinements, the XUV300 facelift is set to introduce new features, including a groundbreaking panoramic sunroof and an expanded 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a first in its segment. However, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and a 360-degree camera will not be part of the offerings.
The upcoming XUV300 facelift will include an electric variant positioned below the XUV400 EV. Similar to its conventional counterpart competing with the Nexon, the electric XUV300 aims to present a compelling alternative to the new Nexon EV. Anticipated to hit the market by June 2024, this EV iteration signifies Mahindra's commitment to providing diverse and competitive options in the electric vehicle segment.
