Volkswagen Motorsport India has partnered with Rayo Racing for a very long time. Rayo Racing (RR Motorsport) is a well-known name in Indian motorsports. Since the Polo and Vento models' lifecycles in India have come to an end, Volkswagen Motorsport India has been replaced by Rayo Racing.

Completion of the Polo and Vento models' lifecycles in India

2010 saw the launch of Volkswagen Motorsport India's activities with the Polo Cup. The Polo Cup was subsequently handed over to the Vento Cup in 2015 and the Ameo Cup in 2017 until the business decided to bring it back in a new form.

However, the new Polo Cup only ran for one season before Volkswagen stopped making the Polo due to COVID-19. Since then, the racing section has concentrated on the MRF Indian National Car Racing Championship's Indian Touring Cars class.

According to a statement from the company, the change from Volkswagen Motorsport India to Rayo Racing is "a result of the Polo and Vento models' lifecycle completion in India." Only these two models continued to use the brand's previous PQ platform.

"Volkswagen Motorsport India has had a significant impact on the nation, and we are proud of the 12 years we have spent fostering India's motorsports culture. To better serve our customers' changing demands, we are consolidating our strengths as we go through a transformational period, according to Piyush Arora, managing director and CEO of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd.

He further disclosed that every employee of Volkswagen Motorsport India had been shifted to another position within the VW Group.

Polo Cup's future with Rayo Racing

This does not imply that the Polo Cup or even Volkswagen's involvement in the domestic racing scene is over.

For a number of years, Rayo Racing has collaborated with Volkswagen Motorsport India. In more recent times, Rayo Racing has also been operating Volkswagen's ITC vehicles, including the brand-new Virtus racing car. The two worked together on the VW Virtual Racing Championship. The Virtus ITC driver is anticipated to remain on the Rayo Racing roster for the next MRF Indian National Car Racing Championship seasons.

The Polo Cup will also be back for the 2022–23 national championship after an absence of a year. The same is available for registration.

We are certain that Rayo Racing will continue to provide the same excitement and client experience after taking over the Motorsport company. The head of Volkswagen Motorsport India, Sirish Vissa, stated that Rayo Racing has been a longtime partner and is able to offer the knowledge, work ethic, and support required.

Customers can also get in touch with Rayo Racing for parts and components designed specifically for motorsports.
