Serial champions and upcoming athletes seeking to leave their mark on the Saudi Arabian dunes are both parts of the Red Bull Desert Wings team that is getting ready to push themselves to the maximum at the 2023 Dakar.
Since Saudi Arabia will be hosting the fourth iteration of the rally, the route itself will be the most formidable opponent anyone will encounter there. On December 31, a Prologue Stage will begin in Yanbu, on the shore of the Red Sea. Then, on January 15, the race's 5,000 racing kilometres, divided over 14 special timed stages, would end at Dammam on the Arabian Gulf.
Since the rally moved to the Middle East, the route has become longer and more challenging, with more dunes and dangers. These competitors are up for the task of representing the Red Bull Desert Wings at the 2023 Dakar.
Nasser Al-Attiyah is the only place to start when looking at the T1 Car Class competitors. The Qatari won the Dakar in 2022 and the first FIA World Rally-Raid Championship with co-driver Mathieu Baumel (FRA). Al-Attiyah drives his Toyota GR DKR Hilux back to Saudi Arabia, intending to win the fourth Dakar.
Nasser Attiyah said that the team is prepared to defend our championship, and winning would be impressive.
The racing teams of Lucas Moraes (BRA)/ Timo Gottschalk and Giniel de Villiers (ZAF) will both be utilizing the Toyota Hilux (DEU). The two drivers have vastly different levels of experience; Moraes will make his Dakar debut in 2023, while 2009 Dakar champion De Villiers is preparing for his 20th.
Luke Moraes said that making it to the top of the Dakar Rally is like achieving Formula 1
Al-Attiyah defeated Sébastien Loeb (FRA) to win the 2022 Dakar and the ensuing World Rally-Raid Championship. The record holder for the most WRC victories (9), along with co-driver FabianLurquin (BEL), will now compete in his BRX Prodrive Hunter to win the championship this time.
For their second visit to Saudi Arabia, Team Audi Sport has updated their electrically-charged prototype. The three-time Dakar-winning race team of Carlos Sainz (ESP) and co-driver Lucas Cruz will attempt to contend for the victory in the Audi RS Q e-tron E2 (ESP).
Sebastien Loeb remarked that the team could compete with Nasser in terms of pure performance.
