The Rising Demand for India’s Favorite MPV

When thinking about which one would be the top priority of the users when it comes to MVP (Multi-purpose vehicle), we generally think of Toyota Innova, Kia Carens, Renault Triber and the like. But what if India’s most preferred MPV is not one of them.

Well, it is the Suzuki Ertiga, which is considered as the most affordable MPV. It is available in options, petrol and CNG and offers both manual and automatic transmission options. It is a fuel-efficient car which is spacious enough for seven people to sit comfortably, even during long rides. 

The price of the Suzuki Ertiga starts at ₹8.69 lakh, which is the ex-showroom price. The MPV segment in India has a wide range of cars like the Toyota Rumion, Toyota Innova Crysta and Hycross, Maruti Suzuki XL6, but none of them is able to match the popularity of the Maruti Ertiga, when talking in terms of volume. 

Last year, the Suzuki Ertiga was the No.1 MPV with 1,49,757 units sold. In the first four months of FY2025, the Ertiga had total dispatches of 59,040 units, which is already 39% of last year’s fiscal sales. The giant family mover comes with a 1.5 liter engine powered by either petrol or CNG. Talking about the mileage, the petrol variant promises to deliver a mileage as high as 20.51 kmpl and for the CNG variant, the mileage is claimed to be 26.11 kmpkg.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has attractive features, making it the most loved car among car owners. Not only does it promise higher efficiency and mileage, it has halogen headlamps, LED taillamps and 15-inch alloy wheels which makes it turn people’s heads while it rules the road. Not only the exterior looks, but the interiors are also beautifully designed. Inside the cabin, the MPV has a 7-inch SmartPlay Pro touch screen infotainment system, automatic AC and a second row roof-mounted AC keeping in mind the comfort of all the passengers during the ride. 

The Ertiga, has not only attractive interiors and exteriors, but proper care has also been taken from the safety point of view. With dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, electronic stability control and hill control, the car promises to be a companion for a long time.
