For the Indian National Rally Championship (INRC), J A Motorsport, a household name in Indian motorsports, has finally launched its latest creation for the championship – that being the Hyundai i20 N Line rally car. The new car is all set to compete in the upcoming INRC3+ class, the feature of which was not associated with the series before.
Power and performance upgrades
A 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine will power the Hyundai i20 N Line, making around 140hp. The special engine produces more power than the standard 120hp. Together with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential with three ramp angles, the upgraded safety equipment in this car comes in the form of a new Adaptive Cruise Control system, which keeps the car at a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. The Drive mode selector seamlessly enhances the handling and ride comfort of this machine, thanks to Dynamic Torque Vectoring and Rear Electronic Differential Lock. 15-inch MRF tyres around a well-rounded body provide better grip around the track.
Safety enhancements
In addition to the power upgrades, the rally car boasts advanced add-ons created in the interest of performance and safety. This means three-way adjustable double-piston dampers, a bespoke J A Motorsport performance exhaust, and a hydraulic jacking system. There's no expense spared for comfort and safety, and interior fittings consist of FIA-grade Sparco seats, steering wheel, seat belts, and brackets for the driver and navigator.
J A Motorsport has developed independently of Hyundai India, and it has plans outside the INRC. In fact, the company plans to service international customer teams by adapting the i20 N Line rally car to meet the standards of the European Rally Championship with minimal modification. Martins Sesks, a driver with World Rally Championship experience, is indeed quite keen on taking part in the testing and tuning of the car as he takes on-board experience to ensure it is in its optimal level.
